The Savannah Navy League sponsors this ceremony which pays tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and all those who selflessly served our nation at home and abroad during World War II. The annual remembrance ceremony takes place on the Sunday before December 7th , December 3, at 2:00 p.m. in the Rotunda of the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum.
There will be a keynote speaker, music and a tribute to Pearl Harbor survivors and WW II veterans and presentation of a Flower Wreath to honor the those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
It is open to all and there is no charge and reservations are not needed. Invite your friends and neighbors
Our Keynote Speaker Adm. Thomas R. “TR” Buchanan grew up in a Navy family. He is a native of Vallejo, California and a 1992 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a degree in Systems Engineering. He holds a Master of Science in Information Technology Management from George Washington University.
His operational assignments included command of Submarine Squadron 20, in Kings Bay, Georgia and USS Albany (SSN 753) in Norfolk, Virginia. He also served aboard the USS Asheville (SSN 758) as a division officer; USS Florida (SSBN 728) (GOLD) as engineer officer; and USS Norfolk (SSN 714) as executive officer.
Adm. Buchanan assumed his duties as commander, Submarine Group TEN in September 2022. He is a recipient of the 2002 Naval Submarine League VADM Lockwood award for submarine professional excellence
