March 18, 2021 Cancel Culture

Despite a tornado warning, LOTR members braved the storm and close to 80 brave conservatives met at the Palmetto tent eager to hear Bill Edwards, "The Voice of Savannah" and Radio Host on WTKS 1290 speak on "Cancel Culture."
Bill kept the audience enthralled with a marathon of memories of past years which mirror happenings in today's anti-Right environment. Bill accurately described the Left as depicting everything they don't agree with as racist.
Topping off a great event Marolyn Overton, Chair of LOTR, awarded Bill with a Honorary Membership to LOTR.

January 15, 2021 Second Amendment

LOTR started the year with a "bang" with a Hot Topic on Second Amendment Gun rights. Guestspeakers, Ron Whitaker and Sheriff John Wilcher, addressed a full house at The Barn at Marshwood. Their presentations related to our Second Amendment, The Right to Bear Arms.
From a gun manufacturer's point of view, Ron Whitaker, Chairman Strum, Ruger & Co., presented his views on future regulations that will impact the arms industry, i.e., price increases and restraining availability. Potential legislation is expected to continue to increase the price of weapons and ammunition for the purpose of increasing tax revenue along with decreasing ownership. Ammunition will continue to become less available. Sheriff Wilcher testified to this fact, as his department is experiencing this problem.
Sheriff Wilcher focused on Chatham County's Concealed Carry Weapons law (CCW) and the required license. Georgia's CCW allows a licensed person to carry a concealed gun on his body or vehicle. This permit will take longer to acquire due to the increase in bureaucracy. He highly recommended that new gun owners take the county's Civilian Firearms Course with its emphasis on safe weapons handling and basic marksmanship.
Rep. Buddy Carter's office provided the booklet, The Constitution of the United States & The Declaration of Independence, for all attendees. This booklet will be a helpful reference for many of our future LOTR Hot Topics programs.
